Flood Resilience Through Architecture
In recent years, most notably 2019 and 2022, Anambra faced severe flooding upon the release of water from the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon. The floodwater completely submerged the houses of the communities around the river; these communities are mostly made up of the farmers that provide food security for this state. This project is an initiative to bring flood resilience to a community that was proudly independent through architectural solutions. What started as a theory has developed into the reassembly of a community's resilience through deep collaboration and innovation. With a dynamic research team and the partnership of Henrich Boll and ANSPPB, we are defining what flood resilient architecture is not just for Nam, but for the future of river communities globally.
